Was taking lansoprazole for seven months. Started with 15mg. The doctor raised it to 30mg. Did not help and gave me terrible side effects. I had very bad shortness of breath, slow herat rate ,chills ,tingling in tongue and hands, headache and constipation. The makers of this drug should be ashamed as the list of side effects is far to long. This should be taken off the market and the doctors who prescribed it should take it themselves. Most doctors don't believe when you have side effects. I also can't believe they are prescribing it for children. Parents be aware that this drug can cause permanent damage. IF you check out the full list of effects you would definitely not give it to your child or take it yourself. I stopped taking it two weeks ago and I'm still having side effects. Can't wait to see my new doctor in one week. Hopefully this one will listen to me. MY advice is to run far away from this medication.

Been on ppis for a number of years now for gerd sliding hiatus hernia and I have diverticulitis. First started on omeprazole then roughly 3years ago put on lansoprasole 30mg twice a day. In this time I have b12 deficiency osteoporosis amongst other health problems. I have been trying to figure out why an hour after taking my morning dose I shake uncontrollably even mentioned it to my gp who didn't think it was a side effect. This morning after taking it I waited and nearly one hour after I was shaking badly and 3 hours later I still shake. Hubby says don't take the evening dose to see what happens. These shakes I put down to other meds I WAS on but now not so sure.need to speak with gp again. Good job I've got predictive text lol

5 days on Prevacid and I my anxiety is overwhelming. Heart palpitations, Insomnia, feeling like Im completely losing it. I get that these drugs help some - but frankly, in my experience, they are potentially dangerous and folks should know the side effects before they jump in. (Part of the problem is that every drug nowadays lists the same side effects - for legal reasons - so we take those warnings with a grain of salt) Dont ignore the side effects listed for this drug. They are factual. Anxiety? Believe it. Depression? Believe it. Folks end up in the ER on this drug. Now I know why. Never again.

There should be a huge warning from every doctor before taking this medication. Works great for alleviating reflux symptoms for the first two weeks, but if you plan on using it long term, buckle up because you’re in for a storm of health issues. Not only did it create a rebound affect making me dependent on them, it cause chronic low stomach acid levels, and gaping esophagus. To add to that, I developed a raging B12 vitamin deficiency so badly from it, I had debilitating neuropathy and depression for months. Sure, use it very short term for ulcers and reflux flare ups, but please do not put these in your body longer than 2 weeks. They did not fix my reflux, they made it ten times worse in the long run, and caused me a mountain of other health issues along with it.

I had been having heartburn daily for quite a while and using way too many tums. Finally I went to the store and bought a course of Prevacid. I experienced relief from day 1 and I am so thankful!

My son has eosinophilis esophagitis. He started taking it in the solutab version at age 3 and continued twice daily for about 1 year. He did show signs of improvement based on his EGD but now at age 6 the eosinophilis has returned and once again he must be treated with prevacid. His bowel movement are more frequent and require that he immediately empty them. It's controllable but he can't delay his trips to the toilet.

Both my daughters have had reflux since they were infants. The pharmacy started giving out the generic kind a few months ago but I didn't notice any change in my 3 yr old since she has outgrown most of it. However the baby's condition wasn't improving and I didn't realize that the generic version sometimes doesn't work. The insurance pays for over half of the real version but if I get the Dr to write no substitution on the prescription it should help. Either way, I would have liked beeing told by the pharmacist when the change was made that there was a chance it wouldn't work.

I've found Prevacid works the best for me. Aciphex did nothing, Nexium was ok, but I prefer Prevacid. The cost is ridiculous though. My insurance will only pay for Aciphex, so I had to pay out of pocket last time. My symptoms were so bad I didn't care! The patent expires soon. I can't wait until there's a generic version!

Prevacid 30 mg. relieves the heartburn but whatever I eat, I feel like I have a rock in my stomach ... bloating ... look and feel like I am pregnant again. Bummer !!! Thank goodness these were samples from the doctor. My insurance will not pay for it anyway, so I have three more left and when they are gone, I will try Nexium (or maybe even the apple cider vinegar recommended... can't beat the cost on that one).

I was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease also known as GERD in Apr. 2005 by my GI doctor. I had been taking and I am still taking Actenol for Osterporosis at the time. It had started backing out of my throat with a terrible burning sensation. I lost a lot of weight from it. My internist prescribed Prevacid for it with 30 mg. At one point he had prescribed 15 mg before I had had an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy to determine what was wrong with me. The 15 mg did not help. However, the 30 mg were and still are wonderful. I can't swallow pills. I open the capsule up, empty out the contents and take it with applesauce and water. It lasts 24 hours and I feel fine as long as I take it. I take it once a day, six days a week. I take it only six days because on Sunday I am taking Actenol.

Prevacid helps suppress my GERD and decreases my Barrett's Esophagus problems. I don't like it, it tastes nasty, smells nasty, feels nasty in my mouth, but by golly it does what they say it does, which is, it gives me some relief.

GERD I have found that this is the only medication that will help me with my GERD. I have tried zantac, Tagamet, TUMS, etc and none have any effect on my GERD. If I run out of Prevacid within a few days I am quite sick, food backing up on me, heartburn, nausea and vomiting.

Seemingly Perfect...for about a year It worked perfectly at relieving heartburn for about the first year. Then I had to couple it with, at first, one, then two zantacs for full effect. Soon heartburn still came. I decided to stop the meds and found I now naturally had mondo heartburn & worse than before! The meds only treated the symptoms, thereby creating in me HYPOchlorhydria. It's like plugging up a faucet w/ your finger to stop a good-sized leak - while it's plugged people starve for water (bad/lack of proper digestion) and when you unplug it the water comes out faster than ever (though this half is not a valid description of hypochlorhydria). Anyway, I experienced no direct side effects. If you want fairly quick relief (in the short-long term) go with this & look for a REAL treatment like Betaine Hydrochloride, Aloe juice, or high quality apple cider vinegar (Bet. HCl would be the cheapest & most drastic treatment in terms of effect). On second thought, skip the doc visit & try those 3 in either the order of BHCl, ACV, Aloe, or the reverse. Blessings.

Useful didn't notice any side effects except for a medicine like taste in my throat where it was working on my esophagous. Didn't necessarily cure me (think I have an ulcer) but did calm the burning sensation I've had for quite some time now. Insurance didn't cover it so it's expensive stuff.

Works better than anythings else I have found This works fairly well, but doesn't last 24 hours that the manufacturer claims. I take a zantac in the evening and with the combination i have little to no stomach problems. The pill does not work great for me alone, but much better than anything else I have tried. There were very few side effects, the only one that i had was mild cramping in stomach for about a week and the pill also took about a week to kick in fully!

Prevacid---highly overrated A specialist told me to take 2-capsules a day. An hour before breakfast and an hour before dinner for my worsening reflux which now has affected my voice. At a higher cost than the Protonix I formerly took, after two weeks, this appears to be a bust. Has anyone ever had the reaction to this medication of a bad case of bronchitis?

Works for heartburn but has side effects I started taking Prevacid and the heartburn went away immediately with no side effects. But after two months, I started having tummy aches and gas every single day (no heartburn)so I had to switch to Pepcid AC Maximum Strength twice a day and it's working. Another thing that I don't like is that you have to take it 1 hour before breakfast.
